Creative Sparks offers
special programs for scouts and 4H groups at a cost of $20 per person.
This is a 2-part program where the first session is conducted
at the studio and the second session is conducted wherever
normal meetings take place.

To earn the
pottery badge offered to both Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts,
children must make a clay pot using either coil or pinch
techniques and discuss the history of pottery, and tour a kiln
room. Creative Sparks is the perfect place for this project.
At the first 1.5 hour session, we demonstrate the basic
hand building techniques and children create their own pieces
of pottery. We also discuss pottery and tour the kiln area.
Their pieces are dried for about 2 weeks and then kiln fired
to "bisque." Leaders pick up the items and a paint kit to
bring to the
second session. Once the pieces are painted at your next
meeting, they are returned to the studio for a second, "glaze"
firing. The final pieces are ready for pick up a week later.
The clay program is recommended for children at least 8 years
old. Leaders and siblings are welcome to participate as well!
For younger scouts, a painting party is a lot of fun and gives
children a pottery experience without actually making a piece
from clay. Check out our party page for details. |
